What is RSS?
RSS is an acronym for Really Simple Syndication. RSS feeds are an easy and efficient way to distribute and receive headlines and other web content to your desktop. Instead of having to go back to a website to see what is new, you can have new information delivered directly to you as it becomes available.
Website visitors choose the type of information that they wish to subscribe to and can unsubscribe from any feed at any time. In your news reader, you can specify how often to receive the syndicated announcements. RSS also cuts down on SPAM. Because it requires you to download a news reader, you do not subscribe to e-mail lists, which can increase your risk of getting unwanted SPAM email.
How do I subscribe to RSS feeds?
First you will need an RSS feed reader (also called a news aggregator). There are a number of RSS readers available on the Web, such as bloglines.com and Google Feeds. RSS readers are simply programs that display the contents of an RSS feed in an easy-to-read format.
Once you have an RSS reader, simply click the icon or a link to the RSS feed and paste it into your RSS reader.
